Over three weekends in October get ready to celebrate living at the top of the light rail with the Gungahlin Festival—the perfect event to get your social butterfly energy back in full swing. From art exhibitions to cultural showcases, sporting expos and community picnics, head along to one of the numerous events being planned to unlock new friendships and uncover hidden gems in your local area.
Sport and Wellbeing Expo
Kick-starting the festival, why not head along to the Sports and Wellbeing expo on Saturday 8 October? You’ll have the chance to connect and have a go with a range of local sporting clubs, fitness groups and active lifestyle organisations. Have two left feet? Don’t worry there will be something for all ages and levels of experience. Keep your energy levels with a range of scrumptious morsels and delicious drinks provided by local vendors and live music to keep your toes moving.

Coming Together Community Exhibition
From the bushland to towering buildings, the people of Gungahlin live against a beautiful backdrop. Artists of all ages, backgrounds and abilities have created a showcase to highlight the beauty that surrounds and fills their homes. Pop into Marketplace Gungahlin to spot some of your favourite local spots and cast your vote for your favourite shot, for the People’s Choice Award.

Cultural Showcase
Gungahlin is a vibrant cultural melting pot, and home to a rich multicultural community. Travel the globe without leaving home with a mini spectacular that highlights the sights, smells, sounds and tastes of Gungahlin’s diverse community. Fill your own home with art created by local artists, food that will leave your mouth watering and performances that will transport you to another country without taking a step. Keep the little ones engaged for the whole day with a range of activities designed to enthral the youngsters as well as activities for us big kids to enjoy.

Community Picnic
If this warm weather has you itching to grab your picnic basket and soak in the sunshine then the final event of the festival has your name written all over it. Sprawl out over the Yerrabi Pond District Park and settle in as live music fills the air and roving children performers keep them entertained as they wait for their turn on the flying fox. And if a soggy tomato sandwich doesn’t sounding appealing, grab a bite from local vendors. Organise to meet some friends or connect with a local group heading along on the day.
