The winners of the 2022 Restaurant & Catering ACT Awards for Excellence were announced last night—and there’s no denying there are plenty of exceptional food and drink experiences in Canberra.
The Restaurant of the Year went to The Boat House in Barton. Nestled on the edge of Lake Burley Griffin it has become a go-to spot for local weddings, fine dining, and gorgeous food focussed on seasonal menus. Taking home not just the Restaurant of the Year award but also the Contemporary Australian Formal Restaurant award and a nomination in the wedding caterer section, The Boat House should be on your to-do list for your next fancy night out.

Another establishment that should be on your radar is Pavilion Dining at Pialligo Estate—with seven nominations (four of which they took home awards for) this is another dining must-do. Set on a 55-acre working farm enjoy a true farm-to-table experience and after taking home the Chef of the Year award, you know the food is going to be good.

Craving something in particular? If you’re in the mood for Indian head to Daana in Curtin or if you want to swirl some pasta on your fork, book into Molto Italian in Kingston—both of which took home prizes last night for their particular cuisines. Wild Duck Fine Asian Cuisine (which also calls Kingston home) walked away with Best Asian Restaurant amongst some steep competition and Les Bistronomes in Campbell took home the Best European Restaurant.

If café energy is what you are after, look no further than Space Kitchen in Phillip—beloved by the public servants surrounding it and as well as southsiders. With cakes that resemble works of art, it isn’t surprising they took home two awards last night.
